Announcement - July 25, 2012

Announcement dated July 25, 2012

To all of the men and women that have purchased cars and/or visited my website-online store over the years:

Seventeen years ago when this all began, I had no idea where this would take me, how it would go or how it may end. I had no “business” vision in 1995 other than to begin providing die-cast Road Champ cars to other collectors at a reasonable price. At the time, I was working full-time as a Police Officer in Oakwood, OH. I would work my shift during the day and pack cars at night. Road Champs evolved into Gearbox cars, and then another brand, customs, collection buy-backs and so on and here we are today.

Although my business direction was not clear back then, I did have other goals in my life. A couple of them included retiring in my 27th year at the PD when I turned 48, putting 4 kids through college, and spending winters in Florida after my youngest child left for college. Well, my youngest child Molly, left for college 3 weeks ago and I have a place rented in Naples, FL for the winter.

With that said, I have been racking my brains for 4 months trying to figure out how to run my website from a location other than my home base in Centerville, OH. Because I touch all of my products except for display cases and Bilbozo decals, I have been unable to figure out how to continue with all of my inventory here in Centerville, OH.

In mentioning this problem to one of my custom makers several months ago, an offer was made to purchase my website including the software, inventory, customer lists and everything else you can think of that has been built up over the past 17 years.

Brian Herold (of Kingston Springs, TN) seemed fairly serious and came up to Ohio June 19th when the last round of cars arrived from First Response. Brian worked with me for 2 days and on June 25th, confirmed his desire to purchase my business.

This week, Brian purchased his Tennessee business license and has taken other steps to assume responsibility and ownership on or after August 20, 2012. Brian intends to take everything back to his home and resume business as usual within a day or two of August 20th.

I am asking EVERYONE to give Brian a chance. Brian has pledged that he will try to make this as seamless as possible and has every intention to keep service and response times the same as what you have been accustomed to over the last 17 years. Of course there may be changes – hopefully for the better, but what I ask of everyone that has purchased from me in the past is to continue to make “Conroy’s Cruisers” your main website for your die-cast police car purchases.

I have a 3 year consultation commitment to Brian so I can help him transition over and make this work as it has in the past. I can still be reached and will do whatever I can to make this site continue to be as successful in the future as it has been in the past. My name is still on the site and I want it to stand for the same thing as it has in the past. I worked to long and too hard to have it fail now.

There is more to the story, but this is the crux of it. I welcome your comments and at the same time, repeat myself in saying, the site will continue to operate, but with a new owner. I don’t know all of Brian’s plans, but I can tell you that he is making a sizable investment and wants to succeed. To do that, he needs you and will do what it takes to make you come back time and time again as you have since this began.

I still have 25 days left and ask that if you are a custom maker that currently has inventory with me, contact me so that we can even up or so that you can commit to Brian to continue supplying this site with customs. If you have cars on hold or on a payment plan, please contact me so that we can straighten this out in the next month.

My unconditional thanks to EVERYONE that has made this what it has become for me and my family. Trust me when I say that if I knew a way to make this work and not sell it, I would do it in a heartbeat.
